Water Retention

Water retention is something that is often spoken about, it refers to the collection or build-up of fluid in the body, namely in the tissue, bones, blood and the circulatory system.

The body is made up of 70% water, although water is vital for the body to function optimally the retention of too much water becomes unhealthy. Water retention causes the body and the organs to swell, enlarging and bloating the body.

Water is retained not only through the beverages that we drink but also the foods that we eat. Sodium is one of the main causes of water retention, sodium refers to salt. Sodium is retained not only through pure salt, a lot of the food that we consume are dosed in salt such as crackers, chips, sauces and dressings and fast food  just to name a few.

The kidneys are the main organs that are affected by increased sodium levels. The kidneys are responsible for filtering waste and clearing the body or unwanted toxins, they also regulate the sodium and potassium levels in the body. Excessive sodium in the body causes the kidneys to have to work even harder, the kidneys then struggle to regulate the levels of both potassium and sodium leading to water retention and swelling.

Although water retention does not often lead to chronic conditions, occasionally it can. Water retention could possibly lead to increased risk of heart disease of failure as well as kidney failure and disease of the liver. Excess water places a lot of unneeded stress on the body; this causes all the bodily functions to work even harder just to complete their responsibility of ensuring that the body functions correctly.

Water retention is something that we all need to avoid not only to ensure that we feel great about ourselves but also to ensure that our bodies have the best possible chance of functioning optimally. There are a variety of ways to reduce water retention.

The first step is to monitor what you are consuming. Diet is vitally important in all aspects of life, eating correctly makes you feel better, provides your body with the right nutrients and minerals and gives you more energy.

Secondly ensure that you cut down of excessive sodium intake and reduce your weight, regular exercise not only helps with weight reduction but it also helps with the reduction of water retention.

Thirdly, if you are often stuck at the office and spend most of your days seated ensure that you take regular breaks to increase blood flow and circulation; the same applies for those who are in careers that require a number of hours standing such as hairdressing, as the constant standing could lead to water retention and swelling particularly in the ankles.

Another option is to avoid sudden excessive changes in temperature such as extremely hot baths or saunas as retaining water is a biological response to this type of shock to the system.

If you do suffer from the problem of water retention, Slimatone Diuretic has the perfect solution for your needs. The Diuretic product eliminates excess water in the organs and tissues, it supports the natural fluid balance that is maintained by the kidneys and aids in supporting a healthy urinary tract.

Water retention does not need to control your life, it can be frustrating and often makes you feel quite unhappy, and luckily enough there are solutions that can help you along the way.
